Thoughths on Luongo
Just wanted to know what you guys think here my opinion hes way over paid and hes to hyped up people talk him up to much. Ill admit hes a good goalie but hes the one who blew it for us in the playoffs against the Blackhawks. Im just saying we should free up some capp room and get a couple young superstars.

He certainly ranks amongst the top 5 goaltenders in the league, Vancouver would be completely out of their minds to consider letting him go (I mean unless of course there was an offer that was too good to pass). He's the cornerstone of their club and he's the major reason why they went as far as they did in the playoffs. To think that people turn on him after 1 bad game is a testament to how oblivious and fairweathered fans can be.

Its not just that one bad game that he played poor in though. I 1agree he is in the top 5 but when Canucks score 5 goals and once you have a lead in a elimintaion match in the playoffs you dont let 3 imediate weak ones go in. If Canucks get a good young goalie an da descend scorer ill be happy cause if we get rid of him we get to keep the Sedins aswell.

1st off if a mod could move this to hockey chat that'd be great. i think it belongs there
as to barrie's post, im not so sure. he's been to the playoffs twice in his career posting a 11-11 record with a very good .930 save % and 2.09 GAA. I don't think he's really had a team in front of him who had the ability to win it all. time will tell though

Luongo did not lose anything for the Canucks. Sure he did not play great, but far too often people get fixated with these media made terms like "choking" or "clutch" or whatever. Bottom line is that Luongo along with Brodeur are the top 2 goalies in the league, and no one else is even close. One or 2 games, heck even a bad series does not all of a sudden mean a guy sucks.
On a contrary note, there have actually been trader rumors floating around about Luongo going to Montreal for Price, Higgins, and a 1st.

If I was Vancouver I'd never do it, however it does make some sense for both teams if Luongo decides not to resign with the Canucks, and Montreal can get him to agree to a sign and trade deal. Luongo grew up around Montreal, and the Habs would be trading a guy the hope to maybe one day be a legit number one franchise goalie, for a guy who is without a doubt one of the best. The best they could hope for from Price is that one day he turns into a Luongo. Why not just trade him to get Luongo. For Vanouver, they cut salary, and get a solid player, a good pick, and a solid prospect for a free agent to be.

yeah but i think that the casucks would see that lulu is their best option in goal and will try and work something out with him. If they can't, they always have jason lasuckera
